Recent research shows that beer can be good for your health.

Beer has a vasodilator effect and helps us prevent strokes, since it prevents the formation of blood clots that block the flow to the heart and brain.

However, we must remember that the key to take advantage of the benefits of beer is moderation.
Learn about the 10 benefits of beer:

  1.  Stronger bones

Beer contains high levels of silicon, which is linked to the health of bones. In a study conducted in 2009 at Tufts University and other centers, older men and women who drank one or two beers a day had higher bone density.

  2. A healthier heart

More than 100 studies have shown that moderate beer consumption decreases the risk of heart attacks and death from cardiovascular disease by 25 to 40 percent. One or two beers a day can help raise HDL levels, the so-called “good cholesterol” that helps prevent arteries from clogging.

  3. Healthier kidneys.

A study in Finland found that men who drank a bottle of beer a day reduced their risk of developing kidney stones by 40 percent. One theory is that the high water content of the beer helped keep the kidneys working or the hops in the beer help prevent the formation of stones.

  4. A healthier brain

A beer a day can help keep Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias in the line, researchers say.

  5. Reduction of cancer risk.

One study found that marinating meat with beer eliminated nearly 70 percent of the carcinogens, called heterocyclic amines (HCAs) that occur when the meat is fried.

  6. Increase in vitamin levels.

A Dutch study found that beer-drinking participants had 30 percent of the highest levels of vitamin B6. Beer also contains vitamin B12 and folic acid.

  7. Protection against strokes.

Beer helps prevent blood clots that block the flow of blood to the heart, neck and brain.

  8. Lower risk of diabetes

The researchers found that alcohol increases insulin sensitivity, which helps protect against diabetes.

  9. Low blood pressure.

Moderate beer drinkers are less likely to develop high blood pressure, a risk factor for a heart attack.

  10. Longest life

Moderate beer consumption prevents about 26,000 deaths per year, due to lower rates of heart disease, stroke and diabetes.
